Mariëtte N. Verkissen MSc holds a master degree in Medical Psychology (2013, Tilburg University, The Netherlands). In 2013 she started working as a doctoral researcher at the End-of-Life Care Research Group, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is involved in the ACTION study, a multi-center trial on the effects of advance care planning (a formalised process of timely communication between patients, relatives and professional caregivers about patients' care preferences) on quality of life and symptom burden in patients with advanced cancer.
