The End-of-Life Care Research Group (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and NuPhaC (Nurse and Pharmaceutical Care) Research Group (Antwerp University) are looking for:
1 FULL-TIME EMPIRICAL RESEARCHER (M/F/X)
Full-time appointment (PhD bursary), annually renewable provided that your evaluation is positive
Appointment: VUB campus Jette, Brussels
Workplace: VUB campus Jette, Brussel and UAntwerp campus Drie Eiken, Wilrijk. International candidates not living in Belgium have to be regularly available in Brussels or Antwerp for meetings and collaboration.
You conduct a research project about the effects of changes in medication use on morbidity, mortality and quality of life at the end of life. Changes in medications for symptom treatment as well as medications for treatment of co-morbidities and preventive medications (deprescribing) are taken into account. You are responsable for conducting this research project, supervised by the projectgroup. Examples of tasks are:
- You conduct a systematic literature review
- You analyze and interpret data from large healthcare and medication databases with patient-level data
- You report these data via scientific articles and conference presentations
- You write a PhD dissertation
You are a passionate researcher with:
- A passion for quantitative data-analysis
- An academic Master’s degree (preferably Health Sciences, Medicine or Pharmaceutical Care)
- Interest in medication use at the end of life and in writing a PhD dissertation
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, …
- Knowledge of and/or experience in quantitative research methods and analyses
- Basic knowledge of SQL, SAS or R is of added value
- Good written and oral communication skills in English
- A flexible attitude.
Because our data is subject to the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Law Enforcement Directive (LED), you have to be a citizen of an EU member state or one of the following countries the European Commission has so far recognized under the GDPR and LED: Andorra, Argentina, Canada (commercial organizations), Faroe Islands, Guernsey, Israel, Isle of Man, Japan, Jersey, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Also Uruguay has been recognized as providing adequate protection.
