Public views on end-of-life care (VUB HOA)
Background
End-of-life care is a new public health priority and good care for the terminally ill is a growing challenge for medicine and health care providers. Little is known however about the Belgian public view on end-of-life care.
Aim
(1) to identify attitudes, personal preferences, knowledge and experiences with end-of-life care among the Belgian population;
(2) to explore the relationships among these variables;
(3) to asses the role of socio-demographic, cultural, psychological and other individual background characteristics in people's views of end-of-life care.
Methods
Data sources: (1) Health Interview Survey Belgium (2008-wave), (2) European Value Study (2008-wave), (3) survey among a representative sample of the Flemish population, to be conducted by the End-of-Life Care Research Group in 2011.
