While most training are the same for all researchers, each individual researcher has an individualized training trajectory, depending on their needs and on the individual project or study assigned to him/her. A personal career development planhas been drawn up by the researcher in consultation with his/her direct supervisor at the beginning of the training, with regular progress monitoring.
The career development plan is based on the specific experience and skills of researchers and the complementary skills they need to develop, and includes training, research and secondment plans. The frequency and length of visits to partner institutes and the possibility of preparing a dissertation are essential components for ESRs. Part of the career development plan will also be to find a way to successfully employ the researchers after the project finishes, be it to finalise a PhD-dissertation, or to continue a career in research.
